Lately both of us are having the same problem with our cars! Every so often, we'll go to start the engine and the engine will start, but struggling. It will be very lumpy and on the verge of cutting out. After a couple of seconds this will clear, and the engine will be back to its normal self! As of now, none of them have actually cut out.
thanks for the fast reply .. that's correct it will start up on Easy start but I hesitate in using that stuff not to sure of it. so im going to attempt the SCV. its a brand new engine so cant be compression issues as this runs and drives perfectly fine once its able to i.e by easy start or intermittently say every 24 hour attempt.

My Astra H 1.8 Petrol 2008 suddenly wouldn't start this morning however the engine turned over without a problem. Like it was out of fuel or if there were no spark. When I turn on the key to the point just before ignition, I first hear the normal sound of the fuel pump (I think it is - it goes on for about a few seconds and stops).

Do a pedal test and record any faults. Press and hold down both brake and throttle and turn key to position 2. 10. Ladyroxy answered 3 years ago. If power steering stops it can be a faulty battery, alternator or last option a new power steering pump is required. As when power drops the pump shuts of to protect its self . If problems persists after this check with your mechanic.
Another problem that occurs on starting in the Astra is a fault with the top camshaft sensor. This could be responsible for slow starts or the car failing to start completely. Again, the sensor can be cleaned to restore full functioning and allowing the car to start smoothly. Clutch Juddering. Thinking of purchasing a 1.6 or 1.8 litre Astra?
